After I spent the summer conducting innumerable bat surveys for my job, I decided to name this litter after UK bat species. 

​

When looking for a stud dog for my first litter I met a few different males, but Drake stood out to me on working ability and temperament. The second he met us he was all over us wanting a fuss! He is a working gundog who works all day through the hunting season, and that stamina is something I wanted to improve on as although Hester has the drive to work, she gets tired more quickly than I would like.

I wanted to find a male that would produce a coefficient of inbreeding as low as possible when combined with Hester. Although I did not manage to get this as low as I would like, the litter COI is still lower than average for Tollers in the UK.
